My Favorite Summer Breakfast ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿคค

There are so many great things about this breakfast - the deliciousness being just one of them!

It contains healthy sources of all 3 macro nutrients - protein, fats, and carbs:

- Oats are full of vitamins, minerals, fiber and antioxidants, they can improve LDL or "bad"cholesterol levels, they can reduce the risk of heart disease...I could go on!

- A high-quality protein powder contains lots of protein that contains many essential amino acids, promotes muscle growth, reduces inflammation, and is easily absorbed by the digestive system.

- Spices like cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg all have anti-inflammatory properties - plus they add delicious flavor to any meal!

- Peanut butter contains protein and is a great source of satiating, healthy fats, which keep you feeling fuller for longer (plus peanut butter is pretty much the yummiest thing EVER (in my humble opinion...๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘Œ )

- The vitamin and mineral content will vary depending depending on the fruit you choose to add, but all fruits are great sources of fiber, nutrients, antioxidants, and healthy carbs.

Ingredients

1.25 cups rolled oats

1 scoop protein powder

Cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg to taste

3tsp (15g) peanut butter

Fruit of your choice (I like using chopped apple, or slicing up a banana)

Directions

1. Combine the oats, nutmeg, cinnamon, and ginger in a bowl or container.

2. Add about 1/2 cup of boiling water - use more water if you prefer your oats a little runnier, use less if you'd like it a little bit thicker.

3. Add your nut butter and stir in into the mixture as the hot water softens it up.

4. Add your protein powder and stir in until mixed completely.

5. Top with your fruit, stir it up, eat, savor, be happy and full of energy for hours! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ‘ฃ

Another huge bonus about this meal is that it can be made in advance - you can prep your oats the night before, keep them in the fridge, chop up and top up with your fruit in the morning, and you're good to go! Hot or cold, these oats are a delicious and nutritious way to start the day!

What are some of your favorite, go-to breakfasts?

Have you tried overnight oats before?

What fruit toppings would you use?

Love you!
